Our house from the front. We live in a quiet and nice street. Every one seems friendly in the neighborhood.Just thought I should give a little life sign. Its been quite time consuming getting settled her so there has not been a lot of time to write. We are all doing good here. Its been hot but now it is cooling down.
The kids are settling in good I am so proud of them. It’s a huge transmission the school here is so academic focused and they are teaching the 5th graders things that my sister was working on last year in 8th grade. We had a long talk with the headmaster the other day. He is a great guy very open for changes and he even said that they see in USA in general that the kids learn a lot very early, even Jacob is suppose to read and write after this year ???? Funny, but what they see is that the level drop when they graduate compared with Europe. So they are wondering if they are learning to much to fast and that its not enough time to learn HOW TO LEARN. Anyway the kids are doing great and they like the school and are getting new friends. Both Elise and Josh are reading without any problems but are struggling more with the spelling (just like me).
I am spending most of my time getting to know the city ( at least what’s in my neighborhood ) finding my way around in the grocery store. Its so different to go shopping here when you are not used to how things look and what’s good and healthy . It’s a lot of fun though and I am enjoying my selves a lot.
The big prayer project right now though is that we get to buy a van a.s.a.p. We need between 25-35 000 NOK to get a van that would be in OK condition for the year. So far we have been SOOOO blessed by people at the church and Håvard has been great picking the kids up for school every day. But this can only continue for so long. Its hard for them to pick us up all the time and hard for us to have to be so dependant on somebody else. We are praying and believing that we would be able to afford a van in the very closest future. Peter has been walking to the school every day and now he has been given a bike ( need to fix the tire but otherwise OK). Its been great for him to walk but its to far for the kids, its about 45 min walk each way and its not to safe. The roads in USA is not really made for people to walk on. Our house is in very close walking distance to a good grocery store and all other shopping so that’s a huge blessing. I can just take Naomi in the stroller and walk to do all the shopping. We have a 4 bedroom house (just like we prayed for) with 2 bathrooms, good size kitchen with TV room or family room attached. Then there is a living room with dining room. It’s just perfect for us. When Peter moved in there was no furniture, something you would not believe now. We have nice furniture in each room that even mach. The church and the ladies in the school office have been working non stop to collect everything we need from kitchen stuff to sheets for our beds. There is no word to describe how much we have been blessed.
